Prima Proof Editing Services

[A Prima Proof transcriber] has transcribed a number of tapes for me. I've always found her to be conscientious, responsive, efficient, timely, and cost effective. She's also a very pleasant person. I recommend her highly.

How it works

Whether you've opted for citation style support, formatting, editing, transcription, or some combination of these, there is typically a certain order to the workflow. The following descriptions will help you understand the process so that you can plan ahead for areas that need your attention. Editing, citation style support, and formatting will occur in the order below with the omission of any services you have not requested.

Editing

What we do:
First, we'll edit the manuscript using Microsoft Word's "track changes" function, then we'll return an edited version to you for your review.

What you do:
Allot yourself time to go over the changes and recommendations that we've suggested. There may be instances where you need to research something further, such as a date referenced inconsistently in your document or the correct use of a term specific to your area. As you review our changes, accept or reject them using your track changes tool, and add information to the text as necessary. When you're finished, send the completed edited version back to Prima Proof for any further services you requested.

Citation Style Support

What we do:
Once the document has been edited, we'll correct citation problems on the reference list and in the text using Microsoft Word's "track changes" function. We will also check for consistency between the reference list and the in-text citations, and we will note any discrepancies. We will probably have questions, and you may need to look up or verify some journal numbers, page numbers, dates, or authors' names. The editors at Prima Proof are not able to verify this information for you, as you are the expert in your area and are most familiar with the literature.

Please note, the editors at Prima Proof are not able to identify instances where a citation should have been included but was not.

What you do:
Allow yourself time to review both the reference list and the text for our changes and questions. Any needed information, such as journal numbers, volume numbers, page numbers, correct spelling of the authors' names, order of authors' names, dates of publication, etc. will be clearly indicated. You will need to review your literature sources to verify what's needed, insert the necessary information at the appropriate place and in the appropriate style (both will be clearly indicated), and accept or reject the changes using your track changes tool. When you're finished, send the completed reference list back to Prima Proof for incorporation into your document.
